Dear Oswego Middle School Families:
Welcome to the Oswego Middle School website. My name is Constance Evelyn and I am truly thrilled to have been chosen as your new principal. Please feel free to call or stop by the school with any questions or concerns you may have this year. I am equally happy to announce that Doug Buske, President of Oswego City School District's Board of Education, has been assigned to Oswego Middle School as our school board liaison and is an eager member of our building level team.
Oswego Middle is serving approximately 760 seventh and eighth graders this year. Since the building's opening in 1980 we have continued a structure of team teaching heterogeneous groups of students. We offer a full academic program to our students during 45 minute periods. Our core area subjects are math, science, English and social studies in both seventh and eighth grades. Our foreign language program offers French and Spanish at two levels for our eighth grade population. Our students also take home & career skills, music, art, physical education and technology in both the seventh and eighth grades. We are an inclusive school and most of our special education students are included in a regular schedule on all of our academic teams.
As you know, the education of all children has always been most successful when treated as a partnership among parents, educators, students and the community. We have begun our school year with this goal in mind and as a school community will move forward in this spirit. All of our efforts will be focused around the needs of your children and all they have to offer.
I am confident that our leadership teams, teachers and support staff together with your partnership will make for a successful 2005-2006 school year. Oswego Middle School is indeed a special place because of your commitment to its success. Thank you for your continued support.
